The tests are taken at recommended ages and are designed with certain objectives in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>MHPC Test Co-Ordinators\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Queries to Kay 087 1321464 or June\u00a0\u200b085 8322474 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-41f814680b7111031fe70caf1ef096ea wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\">All Pony Club tests are optional but members are encouraged to progress through them during their time in the Pony Club. There is a minimum age at which each test may be taken. Your D.C., with advice from an instructor, will advise you when you have reached the standard for a particular test once you are the minimum age.<br>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Parents please note it is forbidden to interfere or observe when the tests are being carried out. This includes photos and videos being taken during the test.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ca2ce47aa305883e6383236fb2a2f57a wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\">The following is a brief guide to the Pony Club Tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-556ba200e15a504fe8627baefae95326 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\">Test Cards detail the complete syllabus for each test and are available from your D.C. or secretary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1e3ba7d7ac2eb11833694d98645f4791 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\">When you pass a test, you get a signed certificate and a coloured disc to wear behind your Pony Club badge. There are different coloured certificates and discs for different tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/irishponyclub.ie\/index.php\/members\/achievement-badges?view=article&amp;id=184&amp;catid=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">For all IPC Tests go to IPC Website. Click here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-52c89b0dcfbf2a0267b9919bc549db29 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>Sequence of Tests<\/strong><br>E Test (voluntary) > D Test > D+ Test > C Test > Riding &amp; Road Safety Test > C+ Test > B Test Riding > B Test Horse Care > Lungeing Test > H Test > A Test<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5414eb20b85acb63d58121a2756c30ff wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\">Training for tests is generally provided by your branch for tests D to C+ and Riding &amp; Road Safety. B test training is normally provided by your area and Lungeing, H and A training is provided at a national level. The general requirements for each test are given below along with the Test syllabus. Suggested books and DVDs are also provided so that members can prepare for the tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-683e5ed0ffda317a37cf8e2eb39e907e wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>E TEST<\/strong><br>Members should be happy both on and around ponies and&nbsp;should know the basic points of the pony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1001a94e58bfd8e2743f2d75af898449 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>D TEST&nbsp;<\/strong><br>Members should have a basic understanding of ponies, be confident handling and riding a pony and enjoy learning about ponies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cc590f6dea10cd523c02eea41488722a wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>Minimum age 8 years<\/strong>&nbsp;(in year of test).&nbsp; Disc colour: Yellow<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u200bD+ TEST<\/strong><br>Members should understand the aids and be able to apply them. They should be able to walk, trot and canter. The objective is to be working towards developing a balanced seat independent of the reins, understand elementary aids and be able to apply them.&nbsp;It is necessary to pass your D+ test before you can attempt the C Test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Minimum age 10<\/strong>&nbsp;(in year of test)&nbsp; Disc colour: White<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f7ab17b42f5e668b86ea9c6c32218426 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>C TEST<\/strong><br>The objectives of C Test are to understand the importance of, and to be working towards a secure seat independent of the reins on the flat and over small fences. &nbsp;To apply simple aids correctly. &nbsp;To have a knowledge of the care and working of a pony off grass. To be in full control of the pony and show courtesy to others when out riding and to understand the importance of respecting other peoples land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a8b8439e51c719ac29fbb7ca18abea82 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>Minimum age 12<\/strong>&nbsp;(in year of test). Disc colour: Green<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-39c537c272961c7e141bd09ff0474fa8 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>RIDING AND ROAD SAFETY TEST<\/strong><br>The Riding and Road Safety Test aims to promote safety on the road. Riders must show that they ride with courtesy and responsibility and that they are aware of the law, the Highway Code and guidance laid down in The Pony Club Riding and Road Safety Manual. There is no disc for this exam but you can get a Riding &amp; Road Safety badge. &nbsp;You are awarded a signed certificate. It is compulsory to pass this test before you can attempt your C+ test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-aee9030b3cbbbefe6ca249af7c230fa4 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>C+ TEST<\/strong><br>The objectives of C+ Test are to become an educated and practical horseman. To ride over fences at all paces. To gain practical experience and knowledge of the care of a stabled pony and of a pony at grass. To be capable of riding a well-mannered pony out hunting and in all Pony Club activities. To ride intelligently and with due regard for others on the roads and in the country, and with a knowledge of pace, distance and discipline when riding alone and in groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a1cbf1639bf1de5a1e2bcf51917d2e2c wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>Minimum age 14 years<\/strong>&nbsp;(in year of test). Disc colour: Pink<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3c79ccebaa7583ff21b75394a61dbd95 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>B TEST<\/strong><br>Members MUST attend training sessions and an assessment session prior to attempting the test. It requires an in depth knowledge of stable management and very competent riding as horses are exchanged for flatwork. The B Test is arranged by the Area Representative, with candidates from all the branches in the area getting together to do the test. It is usually held at the end of August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-15b2cd91218ce8b4417e38859452be26 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>Minimum age 16 years<\/strong>&nbsp;(in year of test). &nbsp;Disc colour: Red for Riding Brown for Horse Care<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f6ffacbc813c59a03aa69d8788eb6ae6 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>LUNGEING TEST<\/strong><br>Candidates should be able to work a horse correctly and safely in all three paces and to improve the&nbsp;way of going, be in control of the horse and equipment with a good understanding of the reasons&nbsp;and benefits of lungeing.<br><strong>Minimum age 17 years<\/strong>&nbsp;(in year of test). &nbsp;Disc colour: Beige&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FOUNDATION COACH TEST<\/strong><br>Candidates should be capable of coaching up to and including \u201cC\u201d test level riders in a safe, fun and&nbsp;educational manner, with the Irish Pony Club ethos.&nbsp;Candidates must have passed their complete B test.<br><strong>Minimum age 18 years<\/strong>&nbsp;(must be 18 years old).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8bae1a11556d551078cae3629eb61b64 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>H TEST<\/strong><br>This test is needed before attempting the A Test. It requires a very high level or horsemanship. There is no riding involved in this test.\u00a0It covers practical horse management, breeding, first aid, anatomy etc. \u00a0You must have an in-depth knowledge of all these to be successful in this test. It is organized by Headquarters.\u00a0 Contact your D.C. for more information about\u00a0this test.\u00a0Candidates must have passed their B test or B test Horse Care.\u00a0Candidates must have passed their Lungeing test before sitting their H test.\u00a0<br>\u2022 Candidates must be in their 18th year to sit their H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-51c5ae89600b5393812fe49c43b7ef52 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>Minimum age 18 years&nbsp;<\/strong>(in year of test).&nbsp;Disc colour: Orange<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2f924cc795660bcbea614635ab334e46 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#5b717d\"><strong>A TEST<\/strong><br>This test is the highest award of the Irish Pony Club and provides a comprehensive examination in Horsemanship and Training Young Horses for Senior Members and Associates.\u00a0Candidates must hold the Pony Club H Test and Lungeing Test and must be good all-round horsemen, with sound knowledge that has been acquired in logical sequence.\u00a0Passing \u2018A\u2019 Test is a really worthwhile achievement and provides the foundation to specialize in a branch of equitation. It is an exam for a serious and dedicated rider who is prepared to devote thought, time and effort to improving their own riding and their practical knowledge of training young horses. This test is organized by Headquarters.\u00a0\u00a0Note: You may apply to take the \u2018A\u2019 test before the date of your \u2018H\u2019 Test, but you will have to withdraw if you fail to pass the \u2018H\u2019 Test.
